How does LASIK work?

LASIK is a procedure in which a flap is created with a laser in the outer layers of the cornea and then gently folded back. An excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea. The flap is then put back in place, where it acts like a natural bandage.

What is recovery like after LASIK?

The “Wow!” effect of LASIK is the very rapid recovery of vision with minimal discomfort after the procedure. Patients often tell us they did not feel anything and could see well the very first day.

Most people have functional vision within 24 hours. That is true in most cases, but each person heals at a different rate. Vision, although greatly improved immediately after surgery, continues to improve for weeks and even months.
