Optomap
Village Vision Center offers a state-of-the-art digital scanning technology the OPTOMAP which allows us to evaluate your retina in a wide angle view much larger than typical retinal cameras, for problems such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal holes, retinal detachments, hypertension, diabetic retinopathy, and many other sight threatening conditions. The scanning system is safe for adults and children. Dilation is included with your eye exam but the Optomap offers an alternative. Our doctors recommend this test for all new and established patients.
OCT
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a deeper retinal scan through all the layers of the retina, useful in early detection. This is NOT the same as having the optomap photo.
This test is more recommended for patients who are 50 or older or patients with a family history of any sight threatening retinal eye conditions.
