IN-NETWORK SPECTERA PROVIDER
Have UHC insurance? You probably have vision benefits too.
THE BASICS
Wait, what's Spectera?
Spectera is UnitedHealthcare’s vision care network — the vision insurance arm that handles eye exams, glasses, and contacts for UHC members.
If your employer offers UnitedHealthcare for medical coverage, they often bundle Spectera vision benefits with it. Sometimes it’s automatic. Sometimes it’s an add-on you elected during open enrollment and forgot about.
Either way, it’s worth checking. You might have benefits that expire at the end of the year.
How to find out if you have Spectera
Look at your insurance cards.
You might have a separate vision card that says Spectera, or your main UHC card might list vision benefits.
Log into your UHC member portal.
Navigate to your benefits summary and look for vision coverage.
Call us.
Give us your information and we can verify your Spectera benefits in a few minutes.
YOUR COVERAGE
What Spectera typically covers
01
Comprehensive Eye Exams
Annual exams with a low copay. This isn’t just a glasses prescription — it’s a full eye health evaluation. Usually a $10–25 copay.
02
Eyeglass Frames
An allowance toward frames from our optical collection — from budget-friendly basics to designer options.
03
Lenses & Upgrades
Coverage for single-vision, bifocal, or progressive lenses, plus discounts on add-ons like anti-reflective coating.
04
Contact Lenses
Many plans offer allowances for contacts as an alternative to glasses — dailies, monthlies, torics, and more.
