More than an eye exam, a custom fitting.

Contact lenses sit directly on the surface of your eye, so they need to be fitted just for you. A contact lens exam is separate from your routine eye exam, and it makes sure your lenses are comfortable, give you clear vision and keep your eyes healthy.

Your doctor measures the shape of your cornea, checks your tear film and the health of your eyes, and then chooses the lens type, size and prescription that suit you. A contact lens prescription is different from a glasses prescription, so you will try lenses on in the office and have the fit checked before you leave with your prescription.

Already wear contacts? Contact lens prescriptions expire, so a yearly exam keeps yours current and lets your doctor check how your eyes are handling their lenses.

NEW TO CONTACT LENSES?

We teach you how to put them in.

Thinking about contacts for the first time? Our technicians will teach you how to put your lenses in, step by step, at no charge. You practice with their guidance until you feel confident.

Most new wearers feel a little nervous about touching their eye, and that is completely normal. A calm, hands-on lesson makes it much easier, and our team is happy to take the time you need.

Your technician will also show you how to take your lenses out and how to care for them, so you can head home ready to wear them.

LENS OPTIONS

Contacts for every prescription

Our doctors recommend lenses based on your prescription, the shape of your eyes and how you plan to wear them. These are the options we fit most often.

01

Daily disposable lenses

A fresh, clean pair every day, with no cleaning or storing. Many patients like dailies for their convenience, for wearing contacts only some of the time, and for travel.

02

Two-week & monthly lenses

Replaced on a set schedule and cleaned and stored each night in solution. They can be an economical choice for everyday wear.

03

Lenses for astigmatism

Toric lenses are designed for eyes with astigmatism, where the surface of the eye is shaped more like a football than a basketball. They are available in daily and monthly options.

04

Multifocal lenses

Multifocal contacts help patients with presbyopia, the natural loss of near focusing that begins in the 40s, see clearly up close and far away, often without reading glasses.

Looking for something more? Ortho-K corrects vision overnight with specially designed lenses, and Stellest lenses and myopia control options help slow nearsightedness in children. Dry eye treatment can also make contact lenses more comfortable.

GOOD TO KNOW

Contact lenses, answered

What happens at a contact lens exam?

Your doctor checks your vision and the health of your eyes, measures the shape of your cornea and reviews your tear film. You will then try lenses on in the office so the fit, comfort and vision can be checked before your prescription is written. Bring your glasses and any contact lenses you currently wear.

Yes. If you are new to contact lenses, our technicians will teach you how to put them in at no charge. They will also show you how to take your lenses out and care for them.

No. A glasses prescription and a contact lens prescription are different, because contacts sit on the surface of your eye. Your contact lens prescription also includes the lens brand, size and curve chosen for your eyes, and it requires a contact lens exam.

Often, yes. Toric lenses are made for astigmatism, and multifocal lenses can help with near and far vision. Your doctor will recommend the best option for your eyes during your exam.

Daily lenses are replaced every day, so there is nothing to clean or store. Monthly and two-week lenses are cleaned and stored in solution each night and can be an economical choice for everyday wear. Your doctor will help you choose based on your eyes, your schedule and your budget.

Not unless your doctor has prescribed lenses for overnight wear. Sleeping in lenses that are not designed for it can raise the risk of eye infections, so always follow your doctor’s instructions on wearing time and replacement.

The cost depends on the lens brand, your prescription and how many boxes you need. Manufacturers often offer rebates, so call us at (972) 317-3888 and our team will walk you through your options.

Existing patients can order contact lenses online or call our office. Contact lens prescriptions expire, so schedule a contact lens exam each year to keep yours current.
